Piazza Navona is one the marvels in Rome. It is very long and its oval shape is given by the ruins that formed it. The square is built, in fact, on the former Domitian’s stadium, built by emperor Domitian in 86 AD. Three fountains are located in the square, but the main attraction is the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Fountain of the Four Rivers), in central position. It was constructed between 1647 and 1651 by Bernini and features four figures, each representing a river from a different continent, the Nile, Ganges, Danube and Rio della Plata.
